Baffour Gyan In Court Over Assault

 

Asamoah Gyan and Baffour GyanBaffour Gyan, a brother of Ghana’s Black Stars’ captain, Asamoah Gyan, has appeared in a Kumasi court this afternoon to answer charges of assault.

He is being held by the Kumasi police for assaulting a senior journalist with the state-owned Daily Graphic newspaper, Daniel Kenu.

Baffour Gyan allegedly led an attack on the journalist for asking Asamoah Gyan at a recent press conference prelude to Ghana versus Uganda AFCON qualifier played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi whether or not he (Asamoah Gyan) had any response to rumours that he used his friend, Castro, for ritual purposes.

But Asamoah Gyan’s brother thought the question was distasteful and confronted Daniel Kenu and allegedly led an assault on him by muscular men.  What steps should you take if you are charged in this state with assault or aggravated assault? That landed him in trouble with the police who issued an arrest for him.

Baffour Gyan turned himself in and was arrested.

Later, Samuel Anim Addo, the manager of Asamoah Gyan, was also arrested in connection with the incident. Both of them appeared in court today and were granted a 30,000 bail with no surety. They are expected to reappear on Friday September 12, 2014, for hearing of the case.

Background

The popular musician went missing with a female companion while jet skiing at Ada, an island community in the Greater Accra Region. He had gone there with Asamoah Gyan to make merry.

The journalist sought to find out from the football star whether he had any response to the claims that he had something to do with the disappearance of Castro.
