United States’ Information Technology giant Oracle Corporation has deepened its presence in West Africa by opening Ghana office located at Airport City in Accra.
Oracle has been operating in Ghana for almost 20 years without a permanent office, but with the opening of the magnificent office building complex, the company hopes to bring its world-class products and services to the doorsteps of its customers in the country.
The plush office complex, according to senior executives of the company aims to further Oracle’s Cloud portfolio expansion throughout the country, and to provide sales and consulting services to the West African country.
Cherian Varghese, Oracle’s Cluster Leader for Sub-Saharan Africa told journalists after the short but impressive opening ceremony that the decision to open Oracle Ghana is based on the country’s economic performance and peace and stable.
Earlier, stressing Oracle’s commitment to the country at the opening event, he said: “Oracle Ghana understands the importance of personal engagement with its customers and partners, and new office affords the company with a great opportunity to strengthen those relationships even further”.
“Through our vibrant local partner ecosystem and dedicated team of highly skilled and experienced employees, based here in Accra and through the greater West African region, we provide customers with high-value products and services, and work to build lasting relationships through day-to-day engagements”.
In well address, the Country Manager for Oracle Ghana, Joseph Asumang added the successfully setting up of corporate presence “demonstrates Oracle’s commitment to doing business here and supporting our customers and partners in West Africa”.
He reiterated Oracle Ghana’s commitment to upholding the company’s global reputation by providing avant-garde technology solutions to it clientele, saying: “Our approach in Ghana aligns with Oracle’s global strategy: We are committed to helping organizations transition to, and embrace the cloud; enabling them to transform their business with Oracle solutions.
From the data centre to the cloud, Oracle helps eliminate the complexity that can stifle business innovation.”
By simplifying the IT environment, Mr Asumang said Oracle enables its customers-420,000 of them across a wide variety of industries in more than 145 countries to innovate faster and create added value for their own customers.
He stressed: “Our customers are using information technology as a powerful tool. They are saving money, they are delivering services that were not possible before and they are finding very smart ways to bring their products to market. Throughout Africa, we have seen remarkable innovation and transformation”.
Mr Asumang empasised that, “as a global technology leader, Oracle is committed to innovation, leadership, and excellence, and has invested more than $39 billion in research and development since 2004”.
He added: “Our technology is built on open industry standards, and one way the Oracle’s engineers drive innovation is by participating in more than a hundred standards-setting organizations”.
In addition to its business growth, the Oracle Academy has undertaken a number of training programmes for educators and learners in Ghana.
The Commercial Attaché to the United States of America Embassy in Ghana, Paul Taylor said he was happy to see U.S companies including Oracle transforming the lives of Ghanaians and Africa as whole.
He added that the interconnectivity between Africa and the USA is very inspiring, stressing: “I am so excited to support U.S companies to bring great things to Africa”.
In a speech read by a Director at the Ministry of Communications, Patricia Dovi-Sampson for the sector Minister, Dr Edward Omane-Boamah noted: “Oracle has been a key partner to government when it comes to the use and application of ICT in key government establishments such as the Ministry of Finance, Bank of Ghana, SSNIT, Volta River Authority, among others”.
The opening of the new office complex by Oracle Ghana is a further proof to the world that Ghana is open for business, Dr Omane-Boamah said.
He commended Oracle Ghana for responding to the vision of President John Dramani Mahama to transform the structure of the Ghanaian economy through diversification, innovation and support for Made in Ghana goods.
