Accra, Ghana//-MTN Ghana on Saturday defied humid Accra weather to mark its 30th anniversary with a major float through the principal streets of the nation’s capital.
The float, which formed part of activities marking the company’s 30 years of operations in Ghana, was also aimed at strengthening its relationship with customers, employees and the government.
Similar anniversary activities are being organised simultaneously across MTN Ghana’s regional operations.
The Accra float, the national one, began at the MTN Ghana Head Office and moved through the Ministries area, Osu and Oxford Street, Ring Road East, and sections of Liberation Road before returning to the headquarters.
MTN Ghana Chief Human Resource Officer, Madam Esi Mmriba Wilson, told journalists after the float that it was intended to reaffirm the company’s commitment to Ghana and thank customers for their loyalty over the years.
She according to her, the company’s 30-year presence in Ghana had been defined by providing connectivity and services while working closely with customers and other stakeholders. 30 years of business in Ghana is showing up, giving connectivity and working with customers,” Madam Wilson added.

“Today was to tell our customers that we appreciate what they do, and so we will show up for them so that they show up for us as well.” The float also provided an opportunity for MTN Ghana to engage people along the route, with the company distributing tokens to members of the public as a gesture of appreciation.
What does that mean to us? It means we are in total partnership with our government and our customers,” she said. Madam Wilson said the celebration was not limited to customers, noting that employees from MTN’s Mobile Money and connectivity operations also participated.
We brought together our MoMo staff and then the connectivity staff,” she stressed.

Madam Wilson noted that additional activities would be organised as MTN Ghana continues its anniversary celebrations.
The company had recently completed its digital week, while the marketing team was expected to roll out more activities, including customer promotions and prize-winning opportunities.
She encouraged customers to participate in the anniversary activities, noting that the company was using the occasion to recognise people who had supported it throughout its 30-year journey.
“It will interest you to know that over these 30 years, we have customers who have stood with us from day one till today. And so, we celebrate them. Every activity we do, we celebrate our customers as well.”
MTN Ghana has already been rewarding customers under its MTN@30 promotion, which offered prizes including Toyota Land Cruiser Prados, cash and data rewards. The promotion was designed to reward customers for their everyday use of calls, data and Mobile Money services.
The anniversary is celebrated under the theme “30 Years of Progress, Powered by You,” with MTN Ghana positioning customers as central to its three-decade journey.
The anniversary activities followed MTN Ghana’s formal launch of its 30th anniversary celebrations in May, when the company announced a renewed focus on network expansion, fibre infrastructure, digital platforms and other investments.
