Accra, Ghana//-The Ghana FA has exposed its counterpart from South Africa and their Belgian coach Hugo Broos over their ignorance of the qualification rules.
The Belgian had anticipated his side needed to avoid a 2-0 defeat to advance to the final 2022 Africa World Cup play-offs.
However, it emerged that the South African had been totally and shockingly unaware of the qualification rules set by FIFA.
And the Ghana FA has wasted no time to pooh-pooh the side following their latest ridiculous attempt to get the match replayed over bogus claim of match manipulation.
“In fact, the Ghana Football Association will not allow the SAFA to visit its incompetence on it through these allegations. Is it not strange that the Coach of the South African National Team thought that FIFA will use Head-to-Head when two teams end the group stage with the same number of points and had to be corrected by the media?
The South African team actually thought Ghana needed a 2-0 margin to qualify when Ghana needed any win to qualify per the FIFA Regulations on the qualifiers,” part of Ghana FA statement read on Thursday.
The Ghana FA has come out with all guns blazing against the South African Football Association (SAFA), saying the latter was “shocking and disrespectful” in how it portrayed the events that transpired in Cape Coast on Sunday.
In a tersely worded statement, the GFA said it was “shocking, irresponsible, and outright disrespect to note that our colleagues from South Africa Football Association have chosen to spread falsehoods to the media rather than project the real picture of events before, during, and after the game”.
