A Ugandan national has been arrested at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra for trafficking narcotics.

Accra, Ghana, May 11, 2018//-Officials of the Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) arrested Frederick Bwogo, aged 53, in Accra when he arrived on board an Ethiopian Air flight ET 921 from Kampala in Uganda on April 25, 2018.

Whilst going through arrival formalities at the Kotoka International Airport, NACOB officials suspected Frederick Bwogo of having ingested narcotic drugs.

He was asked to provide a sample of his urine for a test which proved positive that there was narcotics in his body.

Bwogo was later sent to the NACOB headquarters for observation and within 48 hours, he expelled sixty-seven (67) pellets.

The pellets after a test proved positive as narcotic drugs.

He is said to have initially told NACOB investigators that a Pakistani in Kampala gave the drugs to him to be given to one Ahmed, also a Pakistani national in Ghana.

In court however, when he was arraigned, he said he was sent by a Ugandan national in Kampala to deliver the drugs to one Ahmed, also a Ugandan in Ghana for a fee of US$1,500.

He added that the person who gave the narcotic drug to him is the same person who purchased his ticket for him to travel to Ghana, adding that the receiver of the delivery (Ahmed) was to pay his share after delivering the drug to him in Ghana.

The suspect has been arraigned and remanded into prison custody pending further investigations.
