Transport Chaos Accra: National Cadet Corps Ghana Steps In

Free transport for all students

The national capital, Accra, is reeling under a severe public transport crisis, characterised by a crippling shortage of commercial vehicles, leaving hundreds of commuters stranded for hours daily.

Long queues are snaking through major streets and lorry parks as drivers take advantage of the situation to charge unapproved, exorbitant fares from desperate passengers, fleecing them in the process.

Amidst the chaos, the National Cadet Corps Ghana (NCCG) has launched a noble initiative to ease the burden on its key stakeholders, primarily, students and teachers.

The corps, guided by its core principles of volunteerism and service, has deployed its buses to key routes, including Kwame Nkrumah Circle, Kasoa, Amasaman, Achimota,  Nungua and Madina, free of charge during rush hours of 6:00 am to 9:00 am and from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Teachers and students can board these buses at designated stops along these routes or call 0303 2915790 /0241820343 to book a seat.

This effort aims to support the government’s push to resolve the transport woes and bring relief to the long-suffering public.
