Along with the increasing growth of the entire eSports market, the combined prize pool continues to rise for around $25 million per year. For example, the combined prize pool for all eSports events in 2010 was $3,5 million in total.

The following year it doubled to $ 7,5 million. The most significant leap took place between 2014 and 2015 when the total amount of all annual eSports prize pools increased from $35 million to $75 million.

This upward trend continued in the following years, and the total combined prize pool for all eSports events reached $121.1 million in 2017.

The same year, the official game of the International championship DOTA 2, accounted for more than 34 percent of total eSports prize money. In just two last years, eSports combined prize pool reached $177 million. The numbers illustrate the increasing worth and significance of this segment of the gaming industry.
