PARIS, France, 22 January 2018 -/African Media Agency (AMA)/- For almost a decade, French firm Smoove has been offering innovative, smart and connected bike-sharing solutions to support the development of soft mobility. Today, Smoove is present in 28 cities and 14 countries, where it operates 9,000 bikes. In 2018, Smoove will have more than 30,000 smart bikes worldwide thanks to the launch of its flagship product: shared electric assisted bikes.
A revolutionary offering hybrid, electric and connected.
Smoove is a hybrid solution: a standard bicycle can be converted into an e-bike by installing a battery in the frame and incorporating a motor into the front wheel. Docking stations lock the electric bicycles securely in place and recharge their batteries.
Once fitted with a “Smoove box”, the bike becomes smart and connected. User authentication is performed with a RFID public transport network card reader, an NFC-equipped smartphone or a simple code. This revolutionary embedded technology means the end of saturated docking stations, because it allows a bike to be parked even if no spaces are available, thanks to the “overflow” feature.
Smoove endeavors to offer a very high level of service: bikes that are ultra-secure, tough and designed for optimal user comfort. The city and the operator retain the full control over the deployment and layout of their network, and are free to adjust the system to ensure optimal management of public spaces and smooth traffic flows.
– Connected in the digital era: Smoove box, a comprehensive information system (operations management, customer monitoring, operational reporting) and digital offering (website and mobile app). – Triple Patented Security system: a ” fork-lock” to secure the bike at the docking station, a neiman steering lock and a cable incorporated into the handlebars. – Optimal management of public spaces: high-density modular stations requiring very little civil engineering works. These are approved and controlled by the city council and can be installed along public route infrastructure. – Robust equipment for large urban public use: puncture-proof tires, double-wall aluminum frame and rims, as well as tamper-resistant wheel nuts. – Optimal user comfort: 26-inch
wheels, a comfortable adjustable saddle and a customized front basket.
Smoove & Vélib’ 2.0
After Marrakesh, Helsinki, Moscow, Vancouver and many more, Smoove is now the official supplier of the hardware and software solutions that will go into the Vélib’ network being set up across Grand Paris, which will be operated by Smovengo (a group comprising Smoove, Indigo, Mobivia and Moventia). In total, some 25,000 bikes and 1,400 stations will be deployed as of early 2018 in what is the world’s most emblematic bike share-scheme.
With 7,500 electric bicycles, Smoove is now the world’s largest supplier of shared e-bikes service ! The bikes will enable users to climb the steepest Parisian hills and travel throughout the Paris region to the 68 towns that are already members of Vélib’ Métropole, while also attracting a new clientèle. The bikes will be recharged directly at the docking stations for greater simplicity and ease of management.
Smoove is set to become the world leader when it comes to shared e-bike systems integrated into urban mobility networks, thus contributing more than ever to the reduction of CO2 emissions. For sure, Smoove facilitates the sustainability mobility today and for the future !!!”
