Accra, Ghana, January 17, 2020//- MTN Ghana says it is working assiduously to restore telecom services for its customers across the country, following a two-day of network challenges.

According to the Corporate Services Executive of MTN Ghana, Samuel Koranteng, MTN would not rest until they have restored all services for their customers.

To this end, “MTN has already begun work to restore traffic through other channels and will continue to use alternative routes of connectivity and additional capacity to ease the congestion until the situation is resolved”, he said in a press release issued in Accra today.

Customers of MTN Ghana have been experiencing challenges in accessing data services and international outbound calls for the past two days.

The challenges according to the telecom company are caused a double undersea fibre optic cable cut in Europe.

This situation is affecting all operators and customers in the West Africa region due to cut on the West Africa Cable System (WACS).

The System is an ultra-high capacity fibre optic submarine cable which links Europe, West Africa and South Africa connecting 14 countries over two continents.

Mr Koranteng assured: “We are working with our international providers to restore connectivity as quickly as possible”.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and we will continue to provide updates and keep customers informed when the issue is fully resolved”, he stated.
