Advice to the young HR practitioners

Young HR Practitioners, according Ms. Datey, should be innovative and never think they have arrived. They should get mentored, develop themselves regularly and learn the ropes from scratch.

They should never be left behind in acquisition of new knowledge, skills and abilities. More so, they should not compromise on integrity, excellence and service.

“They should not be silent when the wrong things are celebrated in their organizations. The business community needs their voices to be heard. They should be neutral and not one sided.

Ms Datey

They should understand the industry they work in and act as business partners who can make decisions in management meetings that affect the company’s bottom line”.

They should abstain from bad politics and lead by example. Lastly, they should develop a strong personal brand and network more with those who are ahead of them and relevant to their career growth and development.

To the youth, the pretty young woman advised them not give up on their dreams. “Life will test you but do not be discouraged.

Believe in yourself even when nobody gives you a chance. God doesn’t make failures. He raises champions from people who learn from their failures”.

Rely on God’s guidance and serve him whiles you are young. He will make you his success. Be consistent in growth and your goals.

Prioritize what is important and do not spare time for things that won’t add value to your life. More importantly, don’t wait for an opportunity before you prepare. Prepare for the opportunity before it arrives”.
