MTN Mobile Care Insurance Launched at Executive Breakfast Meeting

MTN Ghana has added a mobile phone insurance scheme dubbed ‘MTN Mobile Care Insurance’ to the products on its MTN Pay Monthly customers in the county.

The insurance scheme is in collaboration with GLICO Insurance, a leading insurance firm which serves as the underwriter for the MTN Pay Monthly customers.

Launching the MTN Mobile Care Insurance at the 19th MTN Business World Executive Breakfast meeting held in Accra today, MTN  Ghana Senior Manager , Sakyi Opoku explained: “The MTN Mobile Care Insurance is designed for MTN Pay Monthly customers as an indemnity in the advent of accidental phone damage, screen damage and in some cases-theft and loss of mobile phones”.

He mentioned some of the features of the scheme to include a fixed monthly/annual  fee, customer’s phones can be repaired or replaced under the cover; a temporary complementary phone will be provided if repairs go beyond 48 hours; and the insurance policy is exclusive to MTN Pay Monthly customers.

Mr Opoku emphasised that the insurance policy covers only mobile phones irrespective of the brand(s), while existing phones could be registered under the screen damage policy only and would require pre-screening.

Under the newly policy, a claim can be made after a minimum of 30 days . Phones will be returned repaired or replaced within five business days.

 However, the MTN Mobile Care Insurance does not cover water/liquid damage. Simply put, damage from liquid drops, immersion or submersion or any form of liquid damage and all others stated in the policy document, according to telecom firm.

The Group Head of Corporate Affairs and Marketing at GLICO, Nana Efua Rockson described the launch of the MTN Mobile Care Insurance as an opportunity to solve the problem of mobile phone subscribers in the country.
