Young CEOs summit

Accra, Ghana, June 13, 2019//-MTN Ghana today mentored over 25 young Ghanaian entrepreneurs operating in various sectors of the country’s economy, as part of activities to mark this year’s 21 Days of Y’ello Care Challenge in the country.

The executives of the telecoms company were matched with the young entrepreneurs during the day’s Young CEOs Summit held at the MTN Ghana head office in Accra to train and mentor them on how to grow their businesses to become big.

Addressing the young entrepreneurs, Digital Consultant for MTN Ghana, Dario Bianchie advised them to increase the digital presence of their businesses through social media specially LinkedIn and Facebook.

“By going digital you will be able to monitor the various activities of your brand and its products and services in a real-time”, he added.

Mr Bianchie noted that statistics had shown that there were 10 million Ghanaians who surf the internet with Facebook and WhatsApp being the most utilised social media.

He therefore appealed to the young CEOs to take advantage of the rising internet statistics and smartphone penetration to propel the growth of their businesses.

“Through digital you can reach 10 million potential customers. So, you must add LinkedIn and WhatsApp platforms to your digital strategy”.

Touching on product development, Mr Bianchie urged them to pay attention to “direct observation” of their customers to enable them build products and services which they would be happy to buy.

To buttress this, he said: “Around half of global startups fail because they don’t have a product-market fit”.

The digital expert also used the occasion to admonish the startup owners to spend a day or hours to pay visits to the premises of their customers to strength customer relations.

The visit(s), Mr Bianchie noted should be used to address misuse of products and services, defective products, among others.

Some of the young entrepreneurs who spoke to African Eye Report lauded MTN Ghana for organizing the maiden summit for them.

They urged other companies operating in the West African country to emulate the shining example of the telecoms company.
