Milovan Rajevac Takes Kwesi Appiah’s Job

Milovan RajevecTHE Ghana Football Association (GFA) have today agreed to make Milovan Rajevac the new Black Stars coach following an interview earlier.

Kwesi Appiah is done as the coach of Ghana and a severance package will be held by the end of the weekend, according to sources close to CAJ News in Accra.

The former Black Stars coach arrived in Accra on Monday, this week in what he thought was a quiet entry, but he was caught by journalists.

The 60-year old had an interview with the Ghana FA on Thursday.

Following a dismal World Cup, the plan was to get a technical adviser for Kwesi Appiah, who then chose veteran local coach Ben Koufie.

The choice was rebuffed by the three-man committee setup to do the job, who then went about looking for another choice.

Milovan’s coming sends clear signals that key people within the FA are paving the way for him, despite the initial plan being for him to be a technical adviser, if at all.

Some Ghanaian media had reported on Tuesday that if Appiah lost against Togo, Rajevac could be named coach before the weekend.

But the GFA are said to have moved up the decision even after Appiah commandeered a resilient 3-2 win against Togo on Wednesday.

The FA are aware of the Serbian’s popularity despite the abrupt way he left Ghana following his historic leadership of the team to the last eight of the 2010 World Cup.

He also led Ghana to a final place in the 2010 African Cup and, a year before, another final place finish of the nation’s CHAN team.

Rajevac has since insisted that he only left the job because a deal to renew a contract was not handled by the FA well.
