March 7, 2018//-India’s national carrier Air India will operate a number of all-women crew flights to mark the International Women’s Day which falls on March 8, according to a statement.

The statement said Air India will operate a range of wide and narrow body aircraft in domestic and international sectors with female pilots to salute woman power.

Air India added that the all-women crew flights will be to several international destinations like San Francisco, New York, Newark, Chicago and Washington, according to Air India.

Also, the Indian national carrier plans to conduct a series of cultural events to commemorate the International Women’s Day.

Instructively, International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. International Women’s Day (IWD) has occurred for well over a century, with the first March 8 IWD gathering supported by over a million people in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland.

Prior to this the Socialist Party of America, United Kingdom’s Suffragists and Suffragettes, and further groups campaigned for women equality.

Today, IWD belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. IWD is not country, group or organisation specific.
