How Dr Ewura Adjoa is Making Impact in Ghana

Accra, Ghana, February 14, 2019//-Dr Ewura Adjoa Ahimah Nunoo’s calling as a medical doctor does not make her to forget about the vulnerables in the Ghanaian society.

She is very hardworking, compassionate, empathetic and passionate about what she does and the patients always come first. Dr Nunoo has a bubbly personality and always has a smile for everyone she comes across.

These are some of the testimonies of patients and people who got into contact with Dr Nunoo, a rising medical doctor at the Paediatrics Department of the Greater Accra Regional, Accra.

“When her patients are not able to pay for labs or medications, she helps pay for them. She loves to teach and besides teaching the staff and medical students at the hospital on a regular basis, she provides colouring books for the children on admission, reads to them and gives them calculations to work on”, they added.

She is also a health advocate who spends a lot of her time educating the public on various medical conditions and any health concerns they may have using television and radio as well as social media particularly Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Additionally, Dr Nunoo gives health talks in churches and schools on a regular basis. She provides free health consultations to her numerous followers on social media who usually send her messages seeking her professional advices on health related issues.

Some of the cases discussed on her Facebook page called Dr. Ewura Adjoa, include: hypertension, diabetes, post-partum depression, sickle cell disease, alcoholism, drug abuse, sexually transmitted infections, among others.

Dr Nunoo supports health discussions on radio and television stations such as Hitz 103.9 Fm (Daybreak Hitz Show), Joy 99.7 Fm (Super Morning Show and Home Affairs), 3 Fm 92.7 fm (Positive Pulse with Dr Will), Metro tv (Morning Ride), GhoneTv (Celebrity Fanzone and Breakfast Show), ETv Ghana (Live Chat with Paul) and Angel Tv (Purple Room).

In October each year (for the past two years), she does free breast cancer screening and provides free breast education for her community and her patients.

When Dr Nunoo was contacted by the African Eye Report she confirmed all the tonnes of praises showered on her by the patients, her colleagues and friends.

“Supporting the needy in our society has been a part and parcel of my life. I love to share the little that I have to the less privileged in the society”, she stated.

 Upcoming TV show

Dr Nunoo is currently working on her health talk show called “My doctor and I” which will be aired on Saturday mornings at 10 am on Angel Tv and repeated on Etv Ghana later in the day.

She hopes by doing this she will be able to reach out to more people especially since she will be speaking both English and Twi (one of the widely spoken languages in Ghana), during the show.

The aim of the show Dr Nunoo explained is to make people aware of the symptoms of some medical conditions as well as giving them a chance to phone in and express their concerns since the show will be a live one.

Short Biography of Dr Nunoo

Dr EwuraAdjoa AhimahNunoo was born in Togo on the 16th of November 1987 to Madam Mary Nana Adwoa Achanfuo-Yeboah formerly of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Mr Dick Kofi Nunoo formerly of Black Starlines.

She had her primary education at North Ridge Lyceum in Accra and attended high school at Pretoria High School for Girls in South Africa.  She started her medical training at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa and completed her degree in medicine at the University of Ghana Medical School.

Dr Nunoo has been a leader since childhood and has quite held quite a number of leadership roles.

She has a younger sister- Nana Aba Quaiba Nunoo who is a barrister. Dr Nunoo has been practicing as a general practitioner for the past five and a half years now and aspires to be a paediatrician in the nearby future.

Dr Nunoo is a Christian and dedicates her free time to church. She is a chorister and has been their treasurer for three years.

She also reads the bible passage in church and is part of the health team that does an annual health screening for the entire congregation.

Dr Nunoo attends church at Immanuel Methodist church, East Airport. When there are any emergencies at church during church service she is called to attend to them at the sick bay.

Her level of enthusiasm is commendable. In her leisure time she loves to read, spend time with her family, watch music and listen to the radio.
