Credible report reaching African Eye News.com indicates that a prominent local business man based in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region of Ghana was shot dead last night.
The deceased believed to be Alhaji Salifu Alidu was shot at close range on Friday night in front of his No 11 TUC residence in Kumasi.
According to the correspondents, the late Alidu had opened the gate and was about entering his house when he was shot dead by an unknown assailant.
The motive the attack was not immediately known at the time of going to the press.
However personnel of the Ghana Police Service who thronged to the crime scene found a bag containing a pistol suspected to be his personal armour and an undisclosed amount of money at the scene of the attack.
They ruled out armed robbery and were convinced the deceased was murdered. Police also suspected that it may be a case of contract killing.
Meanwhile, the police have begun investigation to unravel the crime and bring the perpetrators to justice.
