Accra, May 30, 2017// It appears that the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is dumping his key men who campaigned vigorously for his to win the 2016 election.
In his maiden 19-member cabinet list, President Akufo-Addo dumped the Ministers of Information, Mustapha Hamid, Works and Housing, Samuel Atta Akyea Communications, Mrs Ursula Owusu Ekufful and Senior Minister Yaw Osafo Marfo.
The President’s move is in fulfillment of Article 76(1) of the 1992 Constitution which enjoins him to select some Ministers to form his Cabinet.
The Article states: “There shall be a cabinet which shall consist of the President, the Vice President and not less than ten and not more than nineteen Ministers of State.”
It did not state which Ministerial portfolio should be included in the Cabinet of any government.
Clause (2) of the same Article said the Cabinet shall “assist the President in the determination of general policy of the Government.”
He has submitted to Parliament a list of 19 Ministers to compose his Cabinet on Tuesday (today).
Speaker of Parliament, Professor Mike Aaron Ocquaye announced the list to the Members of Parliament (MPs) at Parliament House.
