Ghana Condemns New York Terror Attack

Accra, November 2, 2017//-Ghana’s president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has condemned last Tuesday’s terrorist attack in New York that left eight people dead and 11 injured.

He tweeted this afternoon that: “I was deeply shocked by the terror attacks in the lower Manhattan area of New York City… We stand in solidarity with the city of New York in condemning the activities of terrorists”

Mr Akufo-Addo therefore expressed the condolences of the people of Ghana to the American people, saying “Let me convey on behalf of the Government and people of Ghana and on my own behalf our deepest condolences to you and the people of America”. The President expressed confidence “the US will emerge from this tragedy stronger and ever ready to play a key role in the fight against terrorism”.

A 29-year-old man, an Uzbek immigrant, was shot and injured by police as he left the vehicle. He is under arrest.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo told CBS that a note was found inside the truck referring to the Islamic State militant group (IS), according to Al Jazeera News.
