ZEN Petroleum Sets Ambitious Target, Wants To End 2021 with 50 Fuel Retail Outlets

Retail Director of ZEN Petroleum, Prince Awuley

Accra, Ghana//-ZEN Petroleum, a wholly owned Ghanaian Oil Marketing Company (OMC), has disclosed that it would end the year 2021 with 50 fuel retail outlets stations across the length and breadth of the country.

The company, according to its senior executives, would add 18 stations to its existing network of 32 fully operational, modern, user-friendly stations across the country.

The Retail Director of ZEN Petroleum, Prince Awuley, disclosed this to African Eye Report after the commissioning of the expanded and renovated Odorkor Divisional Police Headquarters in Accra.

He said: “We want to end the year with 50 retail outlets from the current 32. By the end of this year, we should have 50 retail outlets which will be scattered to help our customers have options when they want to visit our outlets”.

We have four fuel filling stations that will be coming on within the next few months. We have one coming up in Mallam-Gbawe area, one coming up in Takoradi in the Western regional capital, one coming up in Kumasi, and one coming up in Wa in the Upper West Region, while few ones are also in the pipeline”.

Non-compliance of industry rules

Touching on the non-compliance of industry rules by some OMCs, Mr Awuley lamented:  “It is challenging because it appears in our industry there are other OMCs which are not following the rules. So as a responsible company, sometimes we are faced with challenges”.

He continued: “We are trying to do things in the right way. We pay our taxes. We support community developments, among others. But we realized that some people are not paying taxes but are operating downstream.

We all know who these guys are. So, we call on the authorities to do the right thing by ensuring that those who don’t pay the taxes do so”.

He noted: “The nonpayment of taxes by the other players affects the bottom line of the responsible OMCs. This is because we operate in a market where price is the major determinant of wooing customers to our fold.

So, if you have competitors who are not paying taxes, they can afford to go very low. But you are paying your taxes as well as giving competitive pricing at the pump.

But if players don’t follow these measures, it means that they are making more money which could have gone to the state. So it makes it difficult for us. Because we want to offer customers value in terms of the pricing and quality of the products we serve them”.

Ghanaian owned

ZEN Petroleum is a company that belongs to Ghanaians. We are 100 percent Ghanaian. If you look at all the workers here, they are under 40 years old.

It means that the company has given opportunities to enterprising young Ghanaians to come together to build a Ghanaian brand which can rival any international brand in this country. It is already evident, looking at our retail network presence in some major urban centres across the country, Mr Awuley said.

Support us

“We want Ghanaians to support us because we are doing the right things and we are confident that once they support us, we can all come together to build the country”.
