The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary candidate for Yendi constituency in the Northern Region, Alhaji Hamza Alikali, will officially launch his campaign on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at Bunbon Naayili to seek the mandate of the people of the constituency in the next Parliament.

The event is billed to attract thousands of party sympathizers, supporters and the general public to the Bunbon Naa Yili Market Square where Alhaji Hamza Alikali, who is widely endorsed as the man of the people and for the people will officially launch his bid for the Yendi seat.

He will also use the platform to spell-out his plans for the development of the Yendi Constituency if he gets the nod to lead his people as the Member of Parliament for the constituency.

Following the emergence of Alhaji Hamza Alikali onto the political landscape in Yendi, many political pundits have opined that a new era has dawned politicking in Yendi.

His emergence marked the turning point of the role of the youth in spearheading development in Yendi as he is the youngest Parliamentary candidate in history on the ticket of any of the two major political parties in theconstituency.

The venue for the event, Bunbon Naayili Market Square has become the political ‘Mecca’ for this year’s elections with a lot political activities being undertaken by the two political parties. As you recall, during the latest visit by the NPP Presidential candidateto the Constituency, the party held their constituency campaign in Bunbon Naayili.

Many have indicated that the incumbent NPP Parliamentary Candidate has lost touch with his party’s base in Yendi township and is trying hard to clinch at non-existing straws by falling on the fringes of the town to make up for the loss in Yendi as coming events cast their shadows.

However, Alhaji Hamza who was widely endorsed by the villages during the party’s primaries is not only strong in Yendi township but remains a grass root person across the constituency and particularly in the villages. With his youthful dynamism, hehas successfully neutralized the effect of the camp-shifting-strategy by the incumbent NPP candidate.

Over the past months, Alhaji Hamza Alikali has embarked on numerous engagements with the young and the old, men and women, students and market folks alike in every nook and cranny in the constituency to drum home his message of hope, peace and development. Indeed, he is credited as being the first NDC Parliamentary Candidate to have successfully held a rally in Nayilifong, an area hitherto considered a no-go area for the NDC.

Speaking on the planned event, Alhaji Hamza expressed his gratitude to Almighty Allah for his guidance thus far. “Am most grateful to the chiefs and people of Yendi for the confidence they continue to repose in me. For the party executives, commentators and all other supporting groups, I remain highly indebted to you and can only say more grease to your elbow.” He urged all party supporters and sympathizers to come out in their numbers come October 9, 2016 to support this campaign launch.

Meanwhile, as part of the launch a ladies’ youth wing Women for Mahama formally known as Eastern Corridor Ladies for JM is embarking on a series of activities such as Clean up exercise, donation of drugs to Bunbon Naayili clinic, Peace Walk among others.
