World Vision, Facebook, Vodafone, Tigo Support Safer Internet Day 2017

World Vision Ghana, children-centred Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Facebook, Vodafone Ghana, Tigo Ghana, Media Foundation for West Africa, and Open Learning are the sponsors of this year’s Safer Internet Day.

Safer Internet Day (SID2017) celebration is an initiative by INHOPE/INSAFE Network to raise awareness on the safe and responsible use of the Internet by children and young people globally and this year’s day falls on Tuesday the 7th of February, 2017 under the theme: ‘Be the Change: Unite for A Better Internet’.

In Ghana, the day is being organised by J Initiative (JI), a leading NGO working in Ghana to promote the safety and welfare of children and young people and by extension families.

To this end, JI and its collaborators such as Department of Children, Ghana Education Service, Cert-Gh and some media partners would hold a stakeholders’ forum at the Wildlife Conservation Centre (adjacent Afua Sutherland Children’s Park) in Accra tomorrow.

The celebration would also be marked in Greater Accra, Eastern, Volta ,Brong Ahafo, and Northern regions.

Speaking on TV3 Midday Live on Sunday, Madam Awo Aidam Amenyah, the Executive Director  of JI said: “They are celebrating the day to draw stakeholders attention to their roles in ensuring the Internet space is safe for every child to explore”.

She used the opportunity to thank all the sponsors namely, World Vison Ghana, Facebook, Vodafone Ghana,TigoGhana, Media Foundation for West Africa and Open Learning for coming to their aid.
