UBA Outshines Rivals at Industry Awards, Picks 2 Awards

Accra, October 28, 2017//-United Bank for Africa (UBA) Ghana, a subsidiary of the leading pan African banking group-UBA Plc, has won two awards at the just-ended Chief Financial Officers (CFO) Awards held in Accra.

The bank picked the Best Bank, Risk Management for its strong risk management practices built into its business operations, which has protected it from numerous emerging threats.

While the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of UBA Ghana, Mrs. Abiola Bawuah was also adjudged Woman of Excellence in Finance as part of the Special Recognition Awards.

Commenting on the awards, she thanked the organisers for recognizing her and the bank.

Mrs Bawuah said: “It is a special recognition award; it means someone out there was watching my contribution from the corner I find myself. I am encouraged through this recognition to spur everyone out there on to focus and continue contributing their best to their organisations”.

The Chief Financial Officers (CFO) Awards is a gathering of senior finance professionals in the country. The awards night brought together financial leaders so as to reward and recognize their experience, expertise and contributions to the finance sector of Ghana.

For the third year running, the CFO Awards also recognises leading finance organizations whose exceptional leadership have elevated the standards of accountability within the financial sector, displayed prowess in managing organisations’ wealth and reinforced the nation’s economic growth.

Besides, Mrs Bawuah is the current Marketing Woman of the Year 2016. She was recently awarded by the prestigious Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG)  at its 28th National Marketing Performance Awards in Accra.

Also, in 2015, Mrs Bawuah was adjudged the overall Banking and Finance Female Personality of the Year 2014 at an awards ceremony held at the International Conference Centre in Accra.

The awards ceremony also saw her being awarded female banker of the year; while UBA’s innovative female tailor- made product for discerning women, RUBY, was adjudged the product of the year. The awards were organized by the National Women in Finance Magazine (NWIF).
