Togo Receives Prominent Personalities for Counterfeit Drugs Summit

Lome, Togo, January 17, 2020//-Togo is ready to host future international summit of heads of state on the fight against the trafficking and consumption of fake medicines.

This high-level meeting will also see the participation of remarkable World health experts and the Brazzaville Foundation. In preparation for this important meeting which opens tomorrow, the President of the Republic HE Faure Gnassingbé today received prominent personalities arrived in Lome in the summit.

The Head of State first exchanged with a delegation of the Foundation Brazzaville led by former Prime Minister of Guinea, Mr. Kabine Komara.

The Brazzaville Foundation welcomed the summit in Lome and the commitment of the President of the Republic to pool energies for an effective fight against fake drugs trafficking.

“We were pleasantly impressed by the commitment of the President of the Togolese Republic, not only to take the problem in a completely determined and consistent, but also to advocate in the continent,” said Mr. Kabine Komara.

The President of the Republic, then received Hilale Omar, Chairman of the Executive Board of UNICEF. The latter came forward the message of support and solidarity of the UN institution to the Head of State.

“We told the President of Togo as UNICEF also appropriates this regional effort to fight against fake medicines is a global problem but requires a holistic approach broadened, with a vision.”

For the President of the Executive Board of UNICEF, the holding of this important meeting in Togo and African mobilizes leaders, shows that “African countries are now taking in hand the health of their populations.

Previously, they relied on others. Now they will rely on their own strength and the example set by Togo and its neighbors is an example for the rest of the continent. I’m sure it will inspire other leaders in other regions, so that they join this project to pool efforts to combat this scourge. ”

The Head of State of Togo finally received Rousin Michel, former French Minister for Cooperation, accompanied by General Marc Foucaud, former Commander of the SERVAL operation.

Mr. Michel Roussin has reaffirmed its commitment to “support and assist the work of African leaders in the fight against counterfeit drugs. “The heads of state have made this decision and we came to Lome to accompany them. This conference will mark the spirits, “he began.

Marc Le Gal Foucaud his side will provide its expertise in the work in the field of monitoring and control of trafficking in fake medicines which also feeds terrorism.
