TiGo Ghana ‘Kills’ Subscribers’ Boredom

Chief Executive Officer of Tigo Ghana Roshi MotmanTIGO Ghana, a leading telecom service provider has unveiled another innovative but affordable platform for its subscribers and non-subscribers to enjoy quality music at a discount rate.

This follows the launch of TiGo Music and the telecom company’s partnership with Deezer, an international music streaming service which would also enable subscribers who are music lovers to download all types of music irrespective of their geographical locations at a low rate.

Through pre-paid data bundles, TiGo subscribers will from 31 October, 2014 access and enjoy more than 35 million tracks including African and Ghanaian artistes on their phones and tablets.

The Chief Executive Officer of TiGo Ghana, Roshi Motman who disclosed this at the launch of the Tigo Music in Accra over the weekend said: “We are promising an awesome experienced for our subscribers”.

She explained to journalists in Accra that the idea for TiGo Music was to offer Ghanaians the opportunity to listen to music worldwide while paying less.

Mrs Motman stated: “We are excited to be the first in Ghana to give our customers such access to unlimited music. Music plays a major role in Ghana’s rich and diverse culture as it is enjoyed at every social event and in private moments. This is a significant achievement for us as we expect more and more people to use smartphones in this part of the world”.

She added : “As a digital lifestyle brand, TiGo Music will enable us to integrate seamlessly into the everyday lives of Ghanaians and promote great local music. I am also excited that we have the support of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA)”.

All music loving Ghanaians or anybody in any part of the world can log on at any time of the day and access the latest news on new releases, concerts and enjoy Music. This page however goes live on 31st October 2014 when the TiGo/Deezer data bundles goes live.

Additionally, Tigo will also be sourcing exciting new and local content through a new venture with the digital music company, Africa Music Rights, which funds, acquires and manages music rights across the African continent.

The Head of Marketing Officer for TiGo Ghana, Jesse Agyepong said that TiGo would celebrate with their customers with several headline artistes including Shatta Wale, Sarkodie, 4X4, Guru, and Miss Vee at the Accra Sports on 31st October 2014 as part of the launch of the Tigo Music. He also used the occasion to appeal to the media to help publicise the event.

The President of MUSIGA, Bice Osei Kuffour known in the music circles as Obuor said: “As MUSIGA we endorsed the Deezer platform. It has opened musicians to another channel of marketing their songs which will boost their revenues. We are also interested in similar with TiGo”.

Instructively, Tigo Music as a brand has grown in Colombia to become that country’s leading music streaming service, with 600,000 users listening on average to more than 400 songs and 40 hours of music every month.
