Tigo Ghana Declares April as Mobile Money Month

CedisThe country’s digital lifestyle brand, Tigo Ghana, has set aside the month of April, to celebrate major milestones and deepen awareness of its award-winning mobile money solution ‘Tigo Cash’ among staff and the unbanked populace.

The month-long celebration will showcase some new features of the mobile wallet, in yet another move that will put Tigo Cash ahead of competition.

Some activities outlined include stakeholder visits, road shows and in-house promotions for staff with many exciting incentives and prizes to be won.

“The plan to introduce new features is at the heart of our diversification and growth strategy for Tigo Cash, but most importantly the month will offer our mobile financial service team an opportunity to educate Ghanaians particularly those in the informal sector about the benefits of the service,” said Director of Mobile at Tigo Ghana, Tara Squire.

He added: “We believe that the month will open up a new world of financial convenience for people, businesses, educational institutions, churches, government agencies and others.”

“We will continue to increase mobile wallet adoption to facilitate the creation of a cashless society where business transactions and payments are as easy as a tap on a mobile phone.”

Since its launch in 2011, Tigo Cash has grown with leaps and bounds with the service recording transaction volume of over three million every month.

The wallet has become an economic phenomenon among Small, Medium and Enterprises (SMEs), farmers and traders who ply the West Africa trade routes.
