Narrating her story to African Eye Report, she explained that the other motivating factors that led her to venture in modeling is to raise the banner of Islam very high in Ghana and Africa at large.

“I aspire to be an international model for Islam. That’s being classy and decent in my Islamic outfit to inspire and motivate the young Muslim women to do same, In Sha Allah”.

Ms Mariam also used the opportunity to explain her motivation for never going off her Hijab,  a veil usually worn by Muslim females.

“I understand as Muslim woman, every part of your body should be well covered in Hijab and I can still look classy in it…”

She advised Muslim girls and women to always cover themselves with the Hijab. “Cover yourselves as Islam says. Looking classy and beautiful cannot be an excuse for not wearing Hijab. You can still look smart and cute even in Hijab”.

Hijab does not mean wearing skinny trousers or dresses with mini scarf, Ms Mariam added.

Her personal Hijab experience

“Some few years back,I applied for diploma in Registered General nursing at a popular nursing training institution in Kumasi. I was called for an interview and  Alhamdulillah, I was the only Muslimah in hijab amongst the the batch of interviewee at that particular moment and I was asked to take  off my Hijab which I never did and was disqualified.. AlhamdulillAh!!!

Few months later, I got admitted to KNUST where I had my Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 2016 and currently doing my national service.
