President Mahama To Attend Norwegian-African Business Summit

Mahama at UN General AssemblyGHANA’S President John Dramani Mahama is to attend the Norwegian-African Business Summit, the largest Nordic business conference on Africa, Thursday 30 October 2014 at the RaddisonBLU Scandinavian Hotel in Oslo, Norway.

The summit being organised by the Norwegian African Business Association (NABA) will welcome African and Norwegian leaders from across industries to the fourth summit of its kind. The leaders will convene under the theme “Mapping the African Infrastructure Landscape.”

“The Summit builds on the strong African Norwegian ties and a commitment to continue to develop this relationship. We are extremely honored to welcome the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, and the Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Børge Brende,” Eivind Fjeldstad, the founder and managing director of the Norwegian African Business Association said.

“Investment in infrastructure accounts for over half of the recent improvements in economic growth in Africa. We know it has the potential to achieve even more. That is why infrastructure is on the agenda.”

35 confirmed speakers, and approximately 350 participants will convene with African and Norwegian policy makers, business leaders, and high-level delegates. The summit hosts a unique opportunity to meet with more than 20 African ambassadors.

Confirmed speakers include:Sir Paul Collier, Co-Director, Centre for the Study of African Economies, Oxford University; James Mworia, CEO, Centum Investments; Reynir Indahl, Partner, Altor Equity Partners; Kim Wahl, Chairman, Voxtra; Dr. Fatih Birol, Chief Economist, International Energy Agency (IEA); . Tove Stuhr Sjøblom, Senior Vice President Sub-Saharan Africa, Statoil; and Kalle Moene, Professor, Department of Economics University of Oslo

The conference will address the main challenges and opportunities facing African infrastructure development. The parallel sessions will focus on case studies within chosen sectors: impact investment, renewable energy, agribusiness and aquaculture, oil and gas.

Instructively, the Norwegian-African Business Association (NABA) seeks to promote business opportunities on the African continent and serves as a bridge between Norwegian and African business communities. NABA is the only Norwegian-African chamber of commerce, and provides the most relevant network for Norwegian companies working in African markets.

NABA promotes Norwegian member companies in Africa, and promotes African business opportunities in Norway and advocates for more, better and safer business collaboration between Norway and African countries. NABA was founded by the Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise (NHO), Virke – The Enterprise Federation of Norway, Norfund, Statoil, Yara International, Nortura, Jotun, The Norwegian Shipowners’ Association and Innovation Norway among others, and currently has 80 member companies.
