Nigerian Opposition Leader Billboards Takeover Accra

Nigeria 3Ahead of next month general elections, supporters of Nigeria’s main opposition leader Muhammadu Buhari, have erected gigantic campaign billboards in Accra, Ghana’s capital.

The supporters are capitalising on the numerical strength of Nigerians living Ghana to spread Mr Buhari’s campaign messages across the length and breadth of the Ghanaian city.

 Mr Buhari whose majority of Nigerians seen as the closest challenger to Goodluck Jonathan’s continued presidency is canvassing people to go out and vote on election day to change the destiny of Africa’s most populous country.

The billboards, which are located in various places across Accra highlighted the current issues being face by the current administration including security, corruption and development.

Nigerians are expected go to the polls on February 14, 2015 to elect a president, but political analysts say the poll will be the keenest since the country returned to democratic rule in 1999.

Amid heightened tension in the country following recent attacks by Militant Islamist group Boko Haram, heavy security presence is expected at the polling stations across Nigeria.

 Last week, the Nigerian Independent Electoral Commission announced that it was yet to finish printing all the Voter’s Identity cards to be used during the elections.
