Accra, Ghana//-A new book titled-‘V.U.C.A World and the Future of Corporate Strategy and Leadership’ is set to be launched on Thursday, 25 November, 2021 at the Burma Hall, Burma Camp in Accra.
The book authored by Dr Victor Abbey provided the basic understandings of the Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous (V.U.C.A) world for organizational leaders to prepare and to enable them effectively develop or harness the right strategic leadership skills and competences in couching the right corporate strategies for their various organizations now and in the future VUCA world.
The six-chapter book walks the reader through the genesis of V.U.C.A, its characteristics and challenges in the corporate world, to the tenets of corporate strategy and strategic leadership, and the fundamentals of organizational change management.
Dr Abbey who is a retired military officer of the Ghana Army also proffered key strategic factors for adoption by organizational leaders, if they are to succeed in the future.
According to him, Corporate Strategy and Strategic leadership have been and remain the bedrocks of all organizational performance and success.
Several scholars over the years have outlined practical systematic (traditional) approaches to developing and implementing corporate strategy and strategic leadership.
“However, developments within the corporate milieu on the global stage including rapidly changing and/or evolving economic and political landscape, technological and digital advancement, idiosyncrasies in generational dichotomies, global health pandemics, among others make it difficult for organizational leadership across all industries/sectors to accurately succeed with their corporate strategies without frequently reviewing them rather more often”, Dr Abbey said.
This state of affairs is largely driven by what has been captioned as the effects of the “V.U.C.A” world.
In previewing the 228-page book printed and published by the Advent Press, Dr Abbey who is also senior executive at GOIL, observed: “Many organizational leaders or potential leaders are yet to come to terms with the critical knowledge and competence required to operate effectively in the V.U.C.A world”.
The book is relevant for the young students trying to find their way in life in corporate and leadership. It is also vital for the young professional building the foundations of their career, and for the middle age executive seeking fresh perspectives on the way forward for themselves.
In general, the book contains some of the solutions to challenges faced by many Ghanaians and beyond in corporate and leadership.
