“A real woman knows her worth” that’s the tagline for High Currency, a new local telenovela starring Nikki Samonas and coming to Akwaaba Magic on 20 July.

The series, which will occupy the 8:30pm slot every Wednesday and Thursday thereafter, is about power, money, greed,crime and everything else in between and the ways in which they all intersect.

High Currency stars the acclaimedNikoletta ‘Nikki’ Samonasas Naa Adei Hammond, an ambitious and hard-working woman who’s high-powered (and dangerous) job at an investment bank is her ticket to her dream life. But all of that is derailed when she falls in love will she choose affection over money and power?

While romantic love is the leading storyline on the telenovela, the show also explores the dark underbelly of capitalism and materialism, the lengths many go to for the love of money, and what people will do when faced with impossible standards that they are forced to meet.

High Currency will explore the relationships between money, power, sex, social media, and love in our contemporary world.Other cast members include Joshua Fordjour, Helen Lois, BrihannaKinte, Kweku Elliott, Habiba Sinare and Angela Adubofuor.
