Accra, Ghana, April 26, 2019//-Northern Consortium of the United Kingdom (NCUK) together with Global Heritage College (GHPC) has started International Foundation Year (IFY) programme in Ghana for students with hope to study abroad.
The IFY is a programme designed by NCUK and its partner universities to provide a pathway for international students to study and gain bachelor degrees in the UK and other countries, such as USA, Israel, Australia and New Zealand. Since the IFY primarily targets international students, eligible applicant must at the time of application must finished high school with certificates like West Africa Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE), International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a score of 5.0 or its equivalent.
NCUK, which since 1984 has placed over 30, 000 international students on to university degree programmes and now works with over 60 Study Centres in 24 countries on four continents.
With same zeals, NCUK has among its plans to work with local universities in Ghana, as is currently has 16 top UK universities under its umbrella.
Launching the programme in Accra this week, NCUK Regional Director Mrs Maria Mckenna said from September this year, students in Ghana would also have the option to start their UK degree in Accra through its International Year One Business Management (IYOne) qualification.
“The IYOne is a credit bearing qualification that enables students to enter the second year of over 80 undergrade courses across 10 NCUK universities,” she explained.
She added that NCUK guarantee access to thousands of university degrees, as the IFY is designed by its partners exclusively for international students, adding “the NCUK International Foundation Year is a high-quality qualification that combines academic modules, study skills and English language training to prove pathway to undergraduate degree course at leading universities.”
The programme is also opened to students, who want to improve upon their British Curriculum A-level results, with the minimum age being 17 years.
The GHPC is the only NCUK’s centre in Ghana, and hence applications for admissions from interested persons starting from April 24, 2019, can be accessed at www.ghpcghana.com, info@ghpcghana.com.
Mrs McKenna further stated that being a consortium made up of 16 leading universities IFY includes three academic subject modules plus an English Language for Academic Purposes Module taught over nine months with an average of 20 teaching hours per week.
It also guarantees access to over 4,000-degree programmes including faculties of Engineering, Business, Architecture and Medical Science.
