National Security’s Arrest Of ModernGhana Editors: Their Whereabouts Is Still Unknown

Accra, Ghana, June 28, 2019//-The whereabouts of the three editors of ModernGhana, a leading news portal in Ghana is still unknown, Editor-In-Chief William Nana Beeko of the portal told African Eye Report this morning in Accra.

“We are making frantic efforts to get them release by the operatives of the National Security”, he said.

The raid was carried out on Thursday after the website published an article about the country’s National Security Minister, Albert Kan Dapaah and New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Efutu in the central Ghana, Alexander Afenyo-Markin.

Mr Beeko disclosed that laptops belonging to the news portal were seized by the operatives of the National Security.

Family sources of the three arrested journalists said they haven’t heard from their relatives since the arrest.

Meanwhile, the National Security is yet to make any announcement on the raid. Instructively, ModernGhana has been operating in Ghana since 2005.
