MTN Ghana Marks Annual Internet Festival

Accra, Ghana, September 14, 2018// – MTN Ghana is celebrating its annual Internet Festival dubbed i-Fest to create awareness about the internet and the immense benefits of a brighter connected world.

The month-long festival which is in its eighth year is being celebrated under the theme: ‘Making Video a Lifestyle – Learn, Work and Play’.

In a digital broadcast on MTN’s social media channels, the CEO of MTN Ghana, Selorm Adadevoh noted that increase in the number of smartphones on the MTN network had given room for more people to develop and share their own videos.

He said: “As an enabler in the digital space, MTN is using i-Fest month to show our valued customers how they can search, stream and download relevant video content from the internet to improve their lives.

He also announced the introduction of a special offer on the Internet Bundle code *138# known as the MTN Video Bundles which offers customers highly discounted bundles to suit their lifestyle.

Activities lined  up for this year’s MTN i-Fest  is a digital fair  organized in partnership with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs),  and Digital Service providers  during which  there will be a display of several innovations driven by MTN Ghana’s 4G data service.

Other activities include — Campus Storms, Regional Trader Fora and Social Media Video Contests.  Participants of the contest stand the chance of winning 4G high end 4G smartphones and shopping vouchers.

MTN is using this iFest to drive video usage by customers in a digital age where there is a lot of video content available for learning, working and playing. The public will get opportunity to learn from experts at the Digital Fairs new ways of using YouTube and other video platforms to enhance their businesses and new career insights.

In addition to data education and awareness, MTN has introduced platforms such MTN Play and MTN Shortz where customers can visit to upload and download video content.  Mobile applications such as the Kumawood app, AMGO app and a host of other data driven services have been designed to help customers live a digitally connected lifestyle.

MTN currently has over 12 million data subscribers on its network. The growth of data subscriptions on MTN’s network has been catalyzed by several activities, key amongst them i-Fest, which was launched in 2011.

With the rollout of 4G in all regional capitals and key cities, MTN has further demonstrated its commitment to continue to lead the telecom sector in the delivery of digital services to Ghanaians, according to officials of MTN Ghana.
