ModernGhana Editor, Reporter Released From BNI Cell After Public Pressure

Accra, Ghana, June 29, 2019//-The Editor ModernGhana, Ajafor Azunungu Emmanuel and his reporter, Emmanuel Bretwum have been released from the cell of the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) after a severe public pressure.

  The two online portal journalists were released on bails. The editor was granted bail this morning at exactly 9:45 am, while his reporter was granted bail last night.

Ajafor Azunungu Emmanuel who confirmed that their release told African Eye Report that; “they are doing well”.

The two journalists were arrested by operatives of the National Security on June 27, 2019. The reason of their arrest was linked to two publications which the website was published against the Minister of National Security, Albert Kan Dapaah.

Personnel who identified themselves as operatives from the National Security arrested the two journalists in their office in Accra without any proper explanation.

Immediately news of their arrest was broken, journalists, many Ghanaians and journalist groupings including the Journalists for Business Advocacy (JBA), Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) and Ghana WASH Journalists Network (GWJN) demanded their immediate release.
