Mahama Presents 2nd State of the Nation Address to Parliament Today

Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama will this morning deliver his second State of the Nation Address (SONA) to Parliament. 

The event, which is expected to take place at 10:00 am, will be attended by MPs, ministers of States, members of the diplomatic corps and special guests, among others.

Mr Mahama’s address is expected to reflect the state of the country over the past year, and policies and programmes initiated to address challenges in the various sectors of the economy.

Meanwhile, several Ghanaians across the length and breadth of the country have expressed their expectations of challenges, including the cost of electricity, bad roads, and the unavailability of jobs that they want the government to address.

Indeed, the State of the Nation address is an annual address to Parliament given by the President of the Republic of Ghana covering the economic, social, and financial state of the country, according to Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana.
