Letsile, Camera, Action! SuperSport Gears Up for Glittering Botswana Golden Grand Prix

SuperSport is excited to partner with free-to-air official broadcaster, Botswana Television (BTV), to bring the hotly anticipated FNB Botswana Golden Grand Prix live to African viewers.

Taking place on Sunday, 26 April 2026 at the National Stadium in Gaborone, Botswana, the FNB Botswana Golden Grand Prix is the country’s premier World Athletics Continental Tour Silver event, hosted by none other than global sprint sensation, Letsile Tebogo.

Tebogo is the reigning Olympic 200m champion after claiming gold in Paris 2024. He will be joined at the meet by his illustrious teammates, with whom he won silver for Botswana’s 4X100m men’s relay team in Paris.

Botswana’s top track and field athletes, led by Tebogo (100m & 200m), also include 2025 World 400m champion Collen Kebinatshipi, Bayapo Ndori (400m), Tshepiso Masalela (800m), Kethobogile Haingura (800m) and Oratile Nowe (800m). They have been dubbed the country’s “golden generation”.

Adding to the glamour will be a glittering array of sprinting superstars, such as American 200m star Gabby Thomas, renowned Canadian sprinter Andre De Grasse and Kenyan bullet train Ferdinand Omanyala.

SuperSport, Africa’s leading sports broadcaster, will bring its world-class production staff and will work hand-in-hand with BTV and Golden Door Sports Agency – the rightsholder for commercial and broadcast – to bring the event to track and field fans all across English and Portuguese-speaking corners of the continent.

SuperSport presenter Mosibodi Whitehead and analyst Alyssa Conley will lead SuperSport’s coverage on the ground in Gaborone. Coverage on Sunday begins at 14:30 (CAT) on SuperSport Variety 3 and Africa 2 (DStv Channels 208/228) with the 400m men’s hurdles and concludes at the end of the men’s 200m final.

DStv has also made the SuperSport Africa 2 channel (228) available all day, exclusively to DStv Access subscribers in Botswana, for the FNB Botswana Golden Grand Prix.

CANAL+ Director for Sports Content in English and Portuguese-speaking Africa, Rendani Ramovha, said: “Partnering with in-country broadcasters such as BTV gives great excitement ahead of such a momentous event in Botswana, the FNB Botswana Golden Grand Prix.”

“This partnership ensures that not only do two broadcasters come together to produce an incredible product but the benefits are maximised for the viewers, the fans and the sponsors who make the event possible. Partnerships with local broadcasters also allow us to reach places, events and countries not previously possible, ensuring that we maintain scale, while giving our subscribers the best possible sports viewing experience.

“We are also incredibly proud to be associated with such a glittering array of global, not just African, athletes, whom we get the pleasure of profiling live at the peak of their performance. Letsile Tebogo, Collen Kebinatshipi, Andre De Grasse, Ferdinand Omanyala and Gabby Thomas will grace African screens while competing on our continent … it is the purest display of how capable our facilities, administrators, athletes and broadcasters are in bringing the world’s best to African audiences. There’s no better story to tell than that of African success.”
