Lawyer Abdul-Fatawu Alhassan, NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Yendi Constituency

Accra, Ghana, July 23, 2020//-Lawyer Abdul-Fatawu Alhassan, a young dynamic legal professional is capable of winning the Yendi Parliamentary seat for the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the December elections.

This is because he is an all-rounder who will bring his vast expertise in different fields to champion a more inclusive development of the constituency.

Therefore Mr Alhassan stands tall above the others in the contest. He is capable of unifying the people as well as championing the socio-economic development needs of the constituents.

So, the people of the Yendi Constituency should endeavour to vote for massively for him to bring prosperity, development, jobs, among other to the constituency and the country at large.

When African Eye Report caught up with Mr Alhassan, he did not hide his genuine desire in wanting to represent his people and the party in the House of the Legislature.

Work experience

Mr Alhassan has been working with an Accra based law firm- Gomda & Associates, a team of Solicitors & Legal Practitioners since 2019.

Previously, the services of the young Mr Alhassan were engaged by Scancom Limited (MTN Ghana) in 2009.

He started with the Corporate Communications Department as Corporate Communications Advisor for MTN Ghana, a position he held until November 2011.

As Corporate Communications Advisor, Mr Alhassan was responsible for preparing MTN’s Corporate Communications including writing speeches for CEO and Board Members, press releases, news articles and features for print media, stories on MTN events and activities, placing MTN’s events on television and radio stations, as well as managing the MTN media stakeholders across the country.

He coordinated the organization of MTN Regional Media Soirees in all ten regions of the country during his stay at the Communications Department.

In November 2011, Mr Alhassan joined the Government & Regulatory Affairs Department of MTN Ghana, a position he has held for over nine years.

 In this role, Mr Alhassan managed all MTN Government and Regulatory Stakeholders including the Office of the President, Minister for Communications, other Ministers of State, the National Communications Authority (NCA), Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), Parliamentary Select Committee on Communications, among others.

He coordinated MTN’s engagement and interactions with these key stakeholders and prepared Speaking Notes for CEO’s engagements with them.

The young private legal practitioner was also responsible for the publication of the MTN GOVREL (Government Relations) Magazine which was periodically published for MTN’s Government and Regulatory stakeholders by way of updating them of MTN Ghana’s operations in the country.

Education background

Mr Alhassan in an effort to build his capacity as a Regulatory Compliance Advisor of MTN Ghana, enrolled at the Ghana Institute of Management & Public Administration (GIMPA) in 2013 to read Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) as an evening student.

He graduated from GIMPA in 2016. In 2017, Mr Alhasan was among a few successful students out of 1000s of students who sat for the Ghana School of Law Entrance Examination.

Mr Alhassan successfully completed his professional Law Qualification and got called to the Ghana Bar Association in 2019.

Furthermore, Mr Alhassan gained admission into the University of Ghana, Legon to read Political Science in 2005. He graduated with Bachelor of Arts (B.A) (Second-Class Upper) Degree in Political Science in 2009.

Whilst in the university, Mr Alhassn’s leadership ability was again brought to light as he chaired a Committee for the Legon Hall Week Planning activities.

At Yendi Senior High School (SHS), Mr Alhassan who was the Senior Prefect and the Captain of the School’s Volleyball team emerged as the best graduating student from the school for the year 2004.

He captained the Yendi Secondary School Volleyball team as well as represented the Yendi District Volleyball and Football teams during Inter-District tournaments.

Mr Alhassan emerged the Overall Best Student for the competition. In addition, he was also a sterling sportsman participating in both Volleyball and Football games at J.H.S and S.H.S.

Whilst at the E.P J.H.S Mr Alhassan participated in the then NCCE Quiz Competition where he represented the EP JHS in 1999 and the school came first in the entire Yendi District.

Starting from being the Assistant Senior Prefect at E.P. Primary School to a Library Prefect at E.P. J.H.S and then to being a Senior Prefect at Yendi Senior High School (SHS).

Mr Alhassan proceeded to Yendi Senior High School, enrolling in 2002 and completing in 2004.

 In all these stages of his education, he held various leadership positions. From E.P. Primary, Mr Alhassan proceeded to Zohe E.P. Junior High School (J.H.S.) and completed in the year 2000.

Born on November 25, 1982 in Yendi, Mr Alhassan attended his Primary and Second-Cycle education in Yendi. He commenced his primary education in Nuru Saeedia Islamic Primary School and left there in 1997 to join Zohe Evangelical Presbyterian (E.P.) Primary School.

So, in line with his vision and commitment to serving his people, Mr Alhassan is working hard to represent the people of Yendi Constituency in Parliament on the ticket of the NDC.
