
The Kwesé Network’s Pay-TV satellite service has officially commenced broadcasting, beaming Kwesé’s full suite of superior entertainment and sports programming to households in Ghana.
The network is currently operating in Ghana, Rwanda and Zambia which make up the initial phase of the Kwesé TV rollout across Africa, other countries will be announced in due course.
Speaking at the launch in Accra, the Econet Media President and Group Chief Executive Officer, Joseph Hundah promised nationals of the three countries a great TV viewing experience.
“Our aim is to make our products available to everyone either on TV, Internet and on mobile phone. Our competition is our rich content and our affordable and flexible pricing . Another competitive edge of Kwese is the ability of subscribers to use mobile phones at anywhere to access our content”, he told journalists at the launch.
“Your first month of subscription comes free with your first installation. After the first month of subscription, you can choose a three-day, seven-day, one month or annual subscription options”, Mr Hundah added.
The monthly subscription option, which gives subscribers access to the full suite of Kwesé TV programming, is available at an astonishing $25 approximately (100 Ghana cedis) per month excluding VAT. This is the lowest in the paid-TV market in Ghana.
Viewers in can now access Kwesé TV via Kwesé’s own satellite and set-top-box (decoder) available at leading retailers in the country, according to him.
The network’s impressive portfolio of sports assets on its premium sports channels- Kwesé Free Sports, Kwesé Sports 1 and Kwesé Sports 2 gave it the confident to introduced some fantastic entertainment programming to the mix including exclusive, first-to-market content as well as original programming.
The Kwesé App and the KweseSports.com digital platform are also doing very well on the market, Mr Hundah stated.
“The launch of Kwesé TV completes the story we started telling 18 months ago. We have spent the past few months building this diverse media company which will showcase the very best in international content and act as platform to showcase the best that our continent has to offer. Kwesé TV promises to engage and entice through our unique mix of channels and programming,” Hundah stressed.

The General Manager of Kwesé TV Ghana, Maxwell Dodd promised households in Ghana of a great TV viewing experience and therefore appealed to them to patronise the network’s products.
