Ghana has taken another bold step toward preparing its youth for the future of work by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Kontebridge Africa Limited and the Ghana TVET Service – Greater Accra Regional Directorate.
The partnership will pilot the establishment of five (5) Innovation Centres in selected TVET institutions across the Greater Accra Region.
The initiative is designed to modernise technical education by integrating innovation, entrepreneurship, and industry-relevant skills into Ghana’s TVET ecosystem—aligning directly with the country’s industrialisation and skills development agenda.
A New Model for TVET and Innovation
The Innovation Centres will serve as hands-on hubs for skills training, product development, technology incubation, and enterprise creation. Beyond traditional classroom learning, students and artisans will gain exposure to modern tools, digital technologies, and real-world problem-solving environments.
Under the pilot phase, the centres will be established in five selected TVET schools in Greater Accra, creating centres of excellence that can later be replicated nationwide.
According to Kontebridge Africa Limited, the centres are envisioned as platforms where technical skills meet innovation and entrepreneurship, ensuring that graduates are not only employable but also capable of creating businesses and jobs.
Objectives of the Pilot Project
The collaboration seeks to:
- Pilot five modern Innovation Centres within TVET institutions
- Equip centres with cutting-edge tools, equipment, and digital infrastructure
- Deliver entrepreneurship and innovation training to students
- Build strong industry linkages for employment, internships, and start-ups
- Strengthen collaboration between government, private sector, and development partners
Clear Roles, Strong Governance
Under the MoU, Kontebridge Africa Limited serves as the Project Promoter and Lead Implementer, responsible for concept development, project execution, stakeholder mobilisation, and monitoring.
The TVET Service – Greater Accra Regional Directorate provides institutional oversight, policy alignment, access to instructors and facilities, and coordination within the national TVET framework.
A Joint Implementation Committee (JIC) will oversee planning, timelines, and delivery to ensure accountability and alignment with national standards.
A Strategic Opportunity for Corporate Ghana
The Innovation Centres project presents a high-impact Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) opportunity for companies operating in manufacturing, logistics, technology, energy, construction, and related sectors.
Sponsoring companies can:
- Directly contribute to youth skills development and job creation
- Help shape a future-ready workforce aligned with industry needs
- Gain visibility as champions of education, innovation, and national development
- Support Ghana’s industrial and entrepreneurship ecosystem in a measurable way
For companies seeking CSR initiatives with clear outcomes, long-term impact, and national relevance, the TVET Innovation Centres offer an ideal platform.
Looking Ahead
The five-centre pilot in Greater Accra is expected to serve as a national model for integrating innovation into TVET education. With the right partnerships and sponsorships, the initiative has the potential to scale across other regions, impacting thousands of young Ghanaians.
As Ghana positions itself for competitiveness in a rapidly evolving global economy, partnerships like this demonstrate how public institutions and private sector leaders can collaborate to deliver sustainable development outcomes.
