Accra, Ghana, July 8, 2020//-Ghana’s Ministry of Finance has been shut down following the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

 

To this end, Chief Director of the Ministry had directed the staff to immediately work from home. While staff who will be tested positive in the ministry’s mass staff testing exercise will be taken care of.

 

In a statement signed by the Chief Director of the Ministry, Patrick Nomo, said some staff wouldl be working from specific locations to complete the Mid-year budget.

It is not only the Finance Ministry which has shut down its head office in Accra, other state institutions including BOST and COCOBOD have shut down their offices after some staff tested positive for the deadly pandemic.

Also, the Senior Minister Yaw Osafo-Marfo had contracted the virus yesterday and he is currently undergoing treatment. Deputy Trade Minister Carlos Ahenkorah had resigned from his post after recklessly spreading at the ongoing voter registration exercise.

He had gone to the registration centres to monitor the exercise despite being positive. The CEO of the Forestry Commission Sir John died of the virus just last week.

At the time of this publication, Ghana has recorded 21,968 confirmed cases of the COVID-19 with 129 deaths.
