The eight Ghanaian nationals and members of Trans Africa Tourism and Campaign who recently toured across 39 African countries to campaign for a visa-free African continent by 2030 are in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia African Union (AU) Summit.
The campaign and tour led by former Member of Parliament for Kumbungu in the Northern Region of Ghana, Ras Mubarak, which took off in Accra on Monday, August 18, 2025, covered a distance of 40,000 kilometres over 163 days on roads.
In appreciation of their effort by the AU, they are invited to participate and share their experience in the AU Summit’s High-Level Symposium on Advancing a Visa-Free Africa for Economic Prosperity.
Ras Mubarak, who is a speaker of the Symposium, told African Eye Report ahead of the event that: “We are in Addis Ababa for a series of high-level meetings, pushing for a visa-free Africa”.
They were meeting the Ethiopian Minister for Tourism, who was receiving their delegation on behalf of H. E. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, he said.
This meeting, according to him, would discuss their campaign to have Africa become completely visa-free for all Africans by 2030.
“On Friday (today), I’ll be on a panel discussion organised by the African Union and the African Development Bank (AfDB) to discuss the Africa we want and how Africa can move faster towards a visa free Africa.
Borders divide, free movement unites. A visa-free Africa by 2030 is the path to our renaissance. Africa cannot wait”, Mr Mubarak said.
Instructively, the campaign is endorsed by the Government of Ghana through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and proudly supported by a coalition of partners committed to Africa’s development: Office of the Chief of Staff of Ghana, Afrimex Gold, National Investment Bank, Ghana Gold Board, GLICO Insurance, GNPC, Telecel Ghana, National Lottery Authority, Delcielo Optical Services, Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City, Stanbic Bank Ghana, Pan African Progressive Front, Africans Rising, and Radisson Blu Brazzaville.
