Ghana: ZEN Petroleum Gives Facelift to Odorkor Divisional Police Headquarters

Accra, Ghana//-ZEN Petroleum, a wholly owned Ghanaian Oil Marketing Company (OMC), has given a facelift to the Odorkor Division Police Headquarters in the Greater Accra Region.

This follows the expansion and renovation of the divisional headquarters, and the construction of the new Oppong-Boanuh Investigation Centre, named after the current Inspector General of Police, James Oppong-Boanuh.

The two facilities which were undertaken solely by the ZEN Petroleum cost over GHS600, 000.00, senior officials of the company have disclosed at the commissioning of the facilities today.

The Retail Director of ZEN Petroleum, Prince Awuley, said: “The Oppong-Boanuh Investigation Centre and the renovated divisional headquarters are a token of our commitment to giving back in ways that benefit our community and our people”.

He continued: “Given that there are few pillars as crucial to the social fabric as the police service, it is important for us to contribute towards building a strong and well equipped police service that works effectively and efficiently for all”.

Mr Awuley was quick to add that through their ZEN 2 Community programs, they would continue to play their part in ensuring that the pillars of their communities, such as the police service, are well equipped to work better for the benefit of society as a whole.

The Director-General of Welfare of the Ghana Police Service, Madam Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah who commissioned the two facilities, said the new Oppong-Boanuh Investigation Centre houses the Domestic Violence & Victim Support Unit (DOVSU), the station’s CID investigation unit, and other key units which previously had to work in cramped conditions.

She noted that the expansion of the facilities marks an important step in ensuring that police work within the division is done effectively, efficiently and in a conducive environment.

The elated Divisional Commander of the Odorkor Divisional Police Command, ACP Baffour Apenteng-Nyamekye thanked the management of the ZEN Petroleum for their outstanding contribution towards the expansion and renovation of the divisional headquarters.

He used the occasion to appeal to other corporate organisations to support the division by taking similar projects in the divisional headquarters.
