Ghana: Winners and Losers of NPP National Delegates Election

Accra, Ghana//-The incumbent General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, John Boadu has lost the position.

He lost to Mr. Justin Frimpong Koduah, alias JFK in the keenly contested election held at the Accra Sports Stadium.

John Boadu loses NPP General Secretary position to JFK

Mr. Kodua, who is the Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), is, therefore, the new General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party.

The Legal practitioner polled 2,857 votes to beat Mr. John Boadu who obtained 2,524 votes out of the total 5,556 votes cast.

The other candidates; Iddrisu Musah -104 votes, Ramseyer Ahmed – 8 votes, Charles Bissue – 12 votes and Frederick Ansah – 50 votes.

Mr. Justin Frimpong Kodua will serve as the General Secretary of the party for the next four years.

JFK is the former Deputy Regional Youth Organiser in 2010 and a member of the NPP Ashanti Regional campaign team in 2008. He also served as a member of the National Youth Wing of the party as a Chairman of the Legal Committee of the youth wing.

In 2020, he also served as the Chairman of the Strategic Communications Committee of the NPP in Ashanti Region for the general elections.

Meanwhile,

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has sworn in the newly elected National Executive Committee members.

The new executive were elected by over 6,000 delegates at the National Delegates Congress held at the Accra Sports Stadium on July 16.

They are;

  1. Stephen Ntim- National Chairman

2. Vice Chairman- Danquah Smith Buttey

3. Rita Asobayire- 2nd Vice Chairman

4. Alhaji Masawuud – 3rd Vice Chairman

5.  Justin Frimpong Koduah- General Secretary

6. Henry Nana Boakye- National Organiser

7. Kate Gyamfua-National Women Organiser

8. National Nasara Coordinator- Abdul Aziz Haruna Futah

9. National Youth Organiser-Salam Mohammed Mustafa

10. Treasurer – Dr Charles Dwamena

NPP swears in new national executives

In his victory speech, Mr. Ntim promised to cherish the National Chairman position and do what is required of him according to the party’s rules and regulations.

Mr. Ntim has contested for the position on four previous occasions. The just-ended conference is his fifth time of trying.
