Ghana: Students of Oti Boateng SHS Hospitalised Over Suspected Food Poisoning

May 16, 2018//-Reports say more than a dozen students of the Oti Boateng Senior High School (SHS) in Koforidua, eastern regional capital of Ghana have been hospitalised over an alleged food poisoning.

The school authorities said students started complaining of severe tummy upsets after they ate ‘waakye’, a popular rice and beans meal on Monday from the school’s dining hall.

Although school authorities are yet to officially speak to the issue, a source close to the school has told Joy FM, an Accra-based radio station that scores of students complained of diarrhoea after consuming the food.

Meanwhile, the affected students were rushed to the Regional Hospital in Koforidua, where they are receiving treatment, according to station.
