Accra, Ghana, June 4, 2018//- Former President Jerry John Rawlings and some members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) today converged at the Madina Social Centre, Accra, to mark the 39th June 4 1979 uprising that arose out of a combination of corruption, bad governance, frustration among the general public.
It was also caused by the lack of discipline and frustrations within the Ghanaian army.
In short message today, Mr Rawlings who was the key architect of the revolution called on members to defend the revolution and fight against corruption in the country.
The theme of this year’s anniversary is: ‘Reorganising towards the core values’.
