Ghana: MobileMoney Limited Awards Outstanding MoMo Agents

Accra, Ghana, December 13, 2020//-MobileMoney Limited, the MTN Ghana subsidiary responsible for mobile financial services, has presented awards to its outstanding mobile financial services’ agents at the 2020 Mobile Money (MoMo) Agents Awards Night in Accra.

 The awards night was held on Saturday, 12 December, 2020 to celebrate MoMo agents, merchants and distributors in the South East Business District of MTN Ghana, comprising Greater Accra, Eastern, Volta, and Oti regions who have demonstrated high levels of professionalism in executing their duties in providing mobile financial services to their customers in the year 2020.

A total of 125 agents and 100 merchants received awards in the night, while 300 agents and 250 merchants will receive theirs at separate locations nationwide.

An Accra-based Chafal Communications Limited emerged the Overall Best Mobile Money Agent of the Year 2020. The company won a brand new 2020 SUV 4X4 Toyota Rush, certificate of honour and other prizes.

Other winners took home prizes ranging from television sets, motorbikes, laptops to cheques.

 Criteria for the selection

Criteria for the selection of winners included scanning for agents who have not indulged in fraudulent activities, agents who exhibit and provide customers with a good experience among others.

Speaking at the awards night, the General Manager of MobileMoney Limited, Eli Hini, said, the awards ceremony is in recognition of the role Mobile Money agents play to ensure good customer experience.

In spite of the challenging moments

“In spite of the challenging moments, you still demonstrated your commitment to grow the business by working to exceed the targets set for the year.  The significance of your contribution to curb the spread of COVID 19 cannot be overemphasized”, he said.

Mr Hini added that the fact that people could easily locate the MoMo agents and send or receive money as and when they needed it most especially during the lockdown need commendation.

“Due to your service, people handled less cash yet they were still able to transact and manage their businesses. Indeed, going forward, we expect to see a steady growth in the uptake of our business.

For this and many other reasons, we are happy to reward agents and merchants in our various business districts. The selection of the award winners was based on volume of transactions, value of transactions and adherence to laid down rules and regulations”.

Mr Hini congratulated all the award winners on bracing up to the challenge and displaying their resilience to perform creditably.

Work hard to achieve higher heights

He also urged them to keep on working hard to achieve higher heights. “To those who did not receive any awards, we urge you to keep pushing to the top, adopt innovative strategies in your operations and hopefully next year, you may be recognized”.

Mr Hini stated that MobileMoney Limited is proud to have come up with this award ceremony to give national recognition to the significant contributions made by the winners to the growth of mobile financial services in Ghana.

“We will continue to do this to motivate you our trade partners to grow your business and ultimately support the growth in numbers of the financially included in Ghana”.

Remain vigilant in the fight against fraud

Mr Hini used the occasion to encourage their partners and customers to remain vigilant in the fight against MoMo fraud in the country.

“Fraudsters keep revising their strategies as we continue to intensify our education and enhance our internal process. In all of this, the three golden rules serve as our weapon in the fight: do not disclose your pin, don’t let others transact on your behalf and do not discuss your wallet with any stranger”.

The Managing Director, Chafal Communications Limited, Kelvin Atsu Wilson, whose company won the overall award, thanked the MobileMoney Limited for the honour.

Bottom line

Since 2014, the company has recognized the hard work and significant contributions of over 1500 agents and merchants which have given meaning to the digitization and cash-lite agenda.

MobileMoney Limited is the largest Mobile Money service provider in the country with over 14 million active users on its Mobile Money platform and over 5,000 active agents across the country.
