Yendi, Northern Region, Ghana//-The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary candidate for the Yendi constituency, Jon Lawyer Alhassan Abdul Fatawu Jofa has charged youth groups in his youth constituency to work hard for victory in the upcoming Parliamentary and Presidential elections.

According to him, the youth should engage in “healthy competitions” and desist from hatred and war-mongering within the NDC.

Lawyer Abdul Fatawu Jofa observed that the internal wrangling had left the NDC youth to miss out on many employment opportunities during the many times NDC was in government.

“As the Parliamentary candidate (PC) for Yendi, I work with all factions for purposes of ensuring victory for the NDC”. “I cannot belong to Camp A or Camp B because I know the dangers and negative effects of factionalism to the Yendi NDC.

Victory and opportunities are our ultimate aims in the NDC and this can ONLY be achieved through healthy activism”, Lwayer Abdul Fatawu Jofa added.

He however acknowledged the enormous support he got from the PC for the Sagnarigu constituency, Jon Atta Issah,  during the 2020 elections saying words aren’t enough to say, “Thank you”.

NDC Youth Symposium in Yendi

Lawyer Fatawu Jofa made these known when he was joined by two parliamentary candidates of the NDC- Mion and Sagnarigu constituencies in the Northern Region Yendi for the party’s youth symposium.

The symposium held on 26th December 2023 at Abochi Guest House was meant to mobilise and energise the youth in the three constituencies for victory in Ghana’s 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

Joining several speakers on the podium, the Sagnarigu NDC Constituency Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Mohammed encourage the youth and the NDC Executives to be fearless in executing the party’s agenda for victory.

He charged them to police the ballot until a declaration was made at all polling stations and the collation centres. “This can only guarantee the NDC’s ultimate victory”, Mr Mohammed said.

On his part, the NDC Parliamentary candidate for Mion constituency, Alhaji Misbawu said: “We must bring on board the several lapses and lessons learnt in the previous elections to better improve on the NDC electoral fortunes in the constituency.

“Let’s not be afraid in policing the ballots” “It appears we in the NDC work hard during campaigns and end up reluctantly giving the NPP more opportunities to their victory”. This should be a thing of the past for Yendi.

PC for Yendia, Lawyer Jofa

The Guest of honour of the symposium and the NDC Parliamentary candidate for the Sagnarigu constituency, Atta Issah, asked the gathering whether they knew of any payment for being in opposition.

“If there is no payment, why should we be fighting amongst ourselves?” “We lack fate in Allah and that is a reason why we continue to nurture hatred for one another even after elections of the branch, constituency executives and even PCs”.

He said: “We must understand that no individual is 100% correct and for this reason, it is the NDC that we must love and not the competing individuals”.

Participants at the symposium

Mr Issah mentioned some challenges he witnessed during the 2020 elections, especially with the NDC agents and promoters.

He therefore called on the youth to work assiduously to ensure the victory for Lawyer Alhassan Abdul Fatawu Jofa and John Dramani Mahama as the NDC Presidential Candidate in the 2024 elections.
