Tema, Ghana//-Agility welcomed a delegation of the key members of the Institute of Financial & Economic Journalists (IFEJ) on a visit to the Agility Warehouse Park in the Tema Free Zone Enclave to celebrate this year’s UNESCO World Press Freedom Day.
Agility organised the unique, private tour for IFEJ journalists on the Tuesday May 17, 2022, to its Warehouse Park to show its support for the strength, freedom and objectivity of journalism in Ghana.
The tour demonstrated to the IFEJ visitors the world class standards at the project, showing the journalists the construction, the landscaping and environment that the park delivers to companies in Ghana enabling them to operate more efficiently and succeed in delivering growth, jobs and prosperity.
The IFEJ journalists not only saw, first hand, the quality of the infrastructure, but also gained an appreciation of the benefits that companies can obtain from operating from a highly efficient warehouse park where the power is reliable, IT connectivity is consistent and the location secure, overcoming many of the operational constraints that challenge many companies.
Agility explained its alignment with SDG standards for all its developments in Africa, and the focus on ESG operations, from waste management and recycling through to the choice of materials used in development, and the interaction with the local community; local governance and the policies for staff recruitment and development.
Agility was proud to demonstrate its on-site training facility to the IFEJ team. From this training facility, over 200 students have now graduated from a range of courses that are run including training in electricals, brick making, CV and job application skills, IT skills- coding, web design and development, graphic design, digital marketing such as social media strategies -, marketing and project management.
Agility is proud that its warehouses attract new companies to come and start business in Ghana, but equally proud that its SME programme encourages and enables local Ghanaian companies to operate from world class facilities, supporting their growth and development. The Agility SME programme makes setting up operations in an Agility warehouse simple, fast and cost-effective.
The visitors saw how companies are using the Agility warehouses not only for storage and distribution, but also for e-commerce fulfilment; packaging, processing and light manufacturing, supporting a wide range of expanding companies.
The IFEJ visitors met a number of companies based in the Agility warehouses, both local companies and multinationals and heard why they had chosen the Agility Park for their operations and the benefits that had resulted.
“Agility understood our niche and came through with a solution that perfectly fitted our business model. We are glad to be their tenant”, Michael Adofo-Siaw, Business Lead for CentrePoint Supply Chain Solutions said.
Charles Gassoub, the Vice President of Agility Africa added: “Agility was delighted to welcome the IFEJ journalists on this auspicious UNESCO promoted World Press Freedom Day.

The freedom for Journalists to be able to be objective and report accurately and without censor is fundamental to economic growth and the confidence of investors in Ghana.
Ghana is the first choice for many international companies coming to Africa, and the freedom of the press, transparency and openness of the commercial sector, the support from Government and ease of doing business, are all drivers that make Ghana attractive”.
