Ghana: Francis Abirigo Files to Contest Chiana-Paga Primaries

A Communications Specialist, Francis Atayure Abirigo on Wednesday 22 March 2023 filed his nomination forms to contest the Chiana-Paga Constituency Parliamentary Primaries on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Upper East Region.

He assured the delegates and party executives that he intends to adopt an open-door policy leadership where he will take decisions with the constituents about every development project in a consultative manner.

Mr Abirigo who was addressing the NDC members at the constituency party office in Paga after filing said his modus operandi was first to put smiles on the faces of the vulnerable cataloguing them into widows, physically challenged, the elderly and orphans amongst others who he said deserve to be happy too.

“I am not coming to lord myself over you, as an orphan myself I know how difficult it is for a single mother to raise children and I want to assure those my mothers, wives and sisters that if I am voted I shall ensure that their children are in school, and their welfare will be seriously taken care of” he assured.

Mr Abirigo noted that the NDC party in Chiana-Paga is beareth with petty squabbles between members and he intends to work to integrate the people for peaceful coexistence where respect for the elderly, the youth and women will be the order of the day.

Francis Atayure Abirigo who is a former local GRASAG President at the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ), holds a master’s degree in Development Communications, a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, an LLB and diplomas in journalism and marketing with extensive on-the job local and international training.

He has practiced Journalism, PR and Corporate Communication since 2000 with several media houses, the National Health Insurance Scheme and currently a Senior Communications Specialist at Zoomlion Ghana Limited.

The 49 years old Francis Atayure Abirigo is married with four children and is contesting the incumbent Member of Parliament, Thomas Dalu Addah a retired worker of WAEC and former District Chief Executive, a senior lawyer Raphael Aopare Alijina who happened to be Abirigo’s secondary school classmate and, with their several years  junior businessman Nikyema Billa Alamzy.

Interestingly, the three most youthful aspirants among the list attended the Navrongo Senior High School, were arts students and therefore are proud Nabia.
