Ghana: COVID-19 Lockdown in Accra and Kumasi Extended By One Week

Ghana’s President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo today extended the partial restrictions on movements in Accra and Kumasi by one more week , effective Monday, April 13, 2020.

He made this known when he Delivered his sixth telecast address on the progress of work towards the containment and spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in the country.

Two weeks ago, the government imposed a 14-day restriction on movements in parts of the Greater Accra Region and Kumasi, in the Ashanti Region to stop the spread of the deadly disease.

Mr Akufo-Addo admitted that although the lockdown is harsh, it has been critical in reducing Ghana’s COVID-19 case count.

Currently, the country’s COVID-19 case count stands at 378 as of  today Thursday, April 9, 2020.

The case count stood at 313 with six deaths and four recoveries as of Tuesday, April 7.
